Effective January 1, 2022, Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota assumed Pooled Trust services operated by The Arc Minnesota that serves individuals with disabilities. The transition will ensure that individuals served through The Arc Minnesota’s Master Pooled Trust continue to preserve their Pooled Trust assets and maintain eligibility for important public benefits, such as social security income and Medicaid. The change is being made due to the retirement of The Arc Minnesota’s Master Pooled Trust Manager, Steve Egly.

Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota is dedicated to preventing sex trafficking among youth and to providing support for young people who have experienced sexual exploitation. A virtual “Lunch and Learn” will be offered on Thursday, January 27, from Noon-1 p.m. to hear from Lutheran Social Service leaders across the state about what is being done to prevent trafficking and support youth, and how the community can get involved. The effort is part of National Human Trafficking Prevention Month, designed to create awareness and support for individuals who have been affected by this issue. November is National Family Caregiver’s month—a time dedicated to recognizing all the hard work and support that family caregivers offer to their friends and loved ones. Caregiving can be difficult, and caregivers often need a much-deserved break. Even just a few hours alone can make a big difference.

Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota is seeking Caregiver Support AmeriCorps volunteers to provide family caregivers this much-needed break to relax, re-charge, practice self-care and reduce isolation.

LSS assumed operations of the Senior Companion service in North Dakota February 1, 2021, assuring that essential support through this service continued for older adults. Now, they need your help! LSS is currently recruiting for more Senior Companion volunteers throughout North Dakota.

Lutheran Social Services (LSS) recently announced that it will be celebrating the 10-year anniversary of LSS Host Homes. LSS Host Homes service empowers people with disabilities to lead independent lives and currently supports 90 individuals in 34 counties across Minnesota.
