Military & Veteran Services

Strengthening Service Members and Their Families

LSS values veterans and their contributions to Minnesota and the United States. Recognizing the impact of military service, LSS is committed to supporting veterans, military members and their families through a broad range of high-quality, supportive services.

PsychArmor Institute certified veteran-ready organization sealLutheran Social Service of Minnesota is a PsychArmor Institute certified Veteran Ready Organization. PsychArmor is a nonprofit organization dedicated to educating civilians and organizations serving veterans to better understand military culture and veteran experiences.

LSS has established long-standing partnerships with the Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs (MDVA), Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans (MACV) and County Veterans Service Officers (CVSOs). We want each veteran, veteran family member or military service member to find the right supports at the right time.

Through our partnership with the Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs (MDVA), LSS responds directly to the challenges veterans and their families face through the Minnesota Service CORE (casework, outreach, referral and education) program. CORE services are free to eligible veterans (you meet the MN Statue definition of veteran) and include casework, caregiver support, financial counseling, housing and behavioral health services.

Once I started using LSS services, I felt empowered to take charge of my treatments, to look at my disability benefits and to get myself on a path to recovery.
