Remote monitoring offers increased independence

Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota (LSS) has launched a new model of residential support that provides in-home technology to support people with disabilities to live more independently.

Technology features include:

• 24/7 video call support.
• Remote monitoring of kitchen appliances.
• Medication distribution.
• Door alerts.
• Additional technology based on individual needs.

Technology offers immediate and direct communication between the individuals living in the home and LSS employees. If support is needed, an LSS team member can be at the home within minutes.

LSS direct support professionals also visit the home on a daily schedule to provide additional support, including transportation.

The support offered in tech homes is tailored to each individual’s specific needs, offering a greater level of independence for those who don’t need continual one-to-one support.
