Connecting Refugees to Employment

When refugees first arrive in the United States, they are eager to work and find employment to sustain their families. We help them with job skills training, resume writing, interviewing and overall job readiness. Our goal is to help refugee families gain self-sufficiency as quickly as possible. We accomplish this through three distinct services:

EARN

Our EARN team of employment counselors has a long and successful history working with refugees in the Twin Cities and in Greater Minnesota to place new arrivals in their first jobs. We work with employers in many job sectors:

  • Manufacturing and Assembly
  • Hospitality and Hotel Industry
  • Health Care
  • Food Services
  • Sanitation and Cleaning Services
  • Transportation
  • Warehouse and Fulfillment
  • Service Industry

We have a multilingual and multicultural staff that can team with employers when assistance is needed with interpreters, job coaching or cross-cultural training. We also work with refugees to help them understand important qualities required in the workplace, such as teamwork, a strong work ethic, a good attitude and how to problem solve.

Matching Grant

This eight-month federal program offers eligible individuals and families cash benefits while also working to secure their first employment in the United States.

Refugee Cash Assistance

Some refugees who are single or married without children and need additional financial help to gain self-sufficiency may be eligible for refugee cash assistance during the first eight month after their arrival to the United States.
