Truancy Prevention for Middle and High School Students: Helping Youth Take Charge of Their Education

In school. On time. Every Day.

Through a program called be@school, we partner with the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office in Minneapolis to work with youth who are chronically truant to help them take charge of their education and succeed in school and in life.

Through assessment and one-to-one support, we work with youth ages 13-18 to set goals and establish what they need to be successful and avoid re-entering the juvenile justice system.

We start by focusing on each student’s individual goals and hopes for the future. Our aim is to equip students to build resiliency skills to overcome adversity and emphasize healthy relationships, good decision-making skills, and each individual’s unique talents and strengths.

In addition to be@school, we also serve the siblings of these youth through the Youth Intervention Project.
