Our Training and Education Center (TEC) at the Center for Changing Lives in Minneapolis offers free, individualized job support, career exploration and workshops on a wide range of topics. Our trained career development facilitators can assist you in securing a job with livable wages and building a career that meets your unique skills, interests and needs.
We support Minnesota Family Investment Program (MFIP) participants residing in Hennepin County. If you are not an MFIP participant or are a job seeker residing outside of Hennepin County, you are welcome to join any of our workshops or Employer & Training Spotlight events; however, our availability for individual appointments may be limited. If this happens, we are happy to connect you with the appropriate workforce development service provider in your area.

Online Job Applications | Virtual Workshop
In this one-hour workshop, you will learn how to upload a resume and cover letter, complete and submit online applications, follow-up with an employer and understand the basics of applicant tracking systems. You will also receive individualized support to help create an Indeed account.

Writing Effective Resumes and Cover Letters | Virtual Workshop
Looking to update your resume? Learn about the four most common formats and how to choose the best one for you! This workshop also covers the do’s and don’ts of resume writing and creating effective accomplishment statements. You’ll leave knowing what a resume and cover letter are and the many tools available to create a resume or update a current one!

Interview Preparation | Virtual Workshop
What can help take you from a job candidate to an employee? A solid interview! During this one-hour virtual workshop you will learn how to prepare for an interview, including what to expect, what to wear and how to answer some of the most difficult questions employers ask. We’ll cover it all and provide you with the opportunity to ask questions so you can feel confident and prepared going into any job interview.

Open Lab
Our computer lab is open once again for drop-in use to support your job search. The hours are Monday through Thursday from 12-4 p.m. and Fridays from 12-3 p.m.
Northstar Digital Literacy Assessment
The TEC is now a registered Northstar testing location. Northstar helps build computer skills through online self-guided modules in key areas such as basic computer and internet skills, email, Microsoft software, social media and more! This program also allows you to demonstrate your knowledge by earning certificates. Check out their website for more information.
