LSS Meals receives grant from Mankato Clinic Foundation
Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota has received a $5,000 grant from the Mankato Clinic Foundation to support nutritious, healthy meals for older adults through the LSS Meals service in Mankato.
“We are so grateful to the Mankato Clinic Foundation for their generous gift to support the health and well-being of older adults,” said Amy Vajgrt, senior director of LSS Meals. “Their support helps us to ensure that older adults in our community have the social and nutritional support they need to remain living at home longer, and stay healthy, active and independent.”
In 39 counties statewide, Lutheran Social Service provides meals through community dining centers, diner’s clubs and home-delivery with help from friendly volunteers who offer a personal safety check for older adults that may not be able to leave their home. Lutheran Social Service also offers a convenient Meals to Go option that ships nutritious frozen meals to anyone in Minnesota. You can learn more about these services by visiting lssmn.org/lssmeals.

Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota began in 1865 when a Lutheran pastor and his congregation opened an orphanage for children near Red Wing in southeastern Minnesota. Today, with 2,500 employees and 10,000 volunteers, Lutheran Social Service helps one in 63 Minnesotans through services that inspire hope, change lives, and build community. Some services, such as Adoption, Camp Noah and Disaster Services, Financial Counseling, Supported Decision-Making and Guardianship Options, Pooled Trust and Senior Companions support residents in other states as well. Through its mission, the organization seeks to foster safe and supportive homes for children, restore health and wellness in families, empower people with disabilities to live the lives they imagine, and promote health, independence and quality of life for older adults.
