Volunteer Opportunities

We are currently seeking volunteers for a variety of services in communities throughout Minnesota.

Central MN

St. Cloud
Support families experiencing a crisis by providing a safe and temporary place for children age 12 and younger. Must be a licensed provider – child care, foster care or child care center.

This role helps collect, organize, and inventory goods donated to LSS Refugee Services.

Help us get clients and donations where they need to go. Volunteers can sign up for whatever tasks work within their schedule, so availability is flexible.
Answer calls from parents requesting emergency child care for children age 12 and younger. Volunteers must pass a background check and have a smart phone.

This role provides a dedicated time for adult refugees who cannot attend regular ESL classes to practice their English.

East Central MN

Donate items to support LSS Housing Services program participants.
Share your time and talents to inspire hope and impact the lives of youth who are at-risk of or experiencing homelessness.

Northeast MN

Help ensure young people have a safe, stable living situation and access to supportive resources.

Life Haven provides short-term transitional housing to teen moms (ages 16-17) and their children who are experiencing homelessness. Providing a healthy and tasty meal is one way you can support these young families.
Safe House is an emergency shelter providing services for youth (ages 16-21) experiencing homelessness. Providing a healthy and tasty meal is one way you can support these young adults.
Answer calls from parents requesting emergency child care for children age 12 and younger. Volunteers must pass a background check and have a smart phone.
Donate groceries and other items at our metro youth shelters and transitional housing program for minor moms and their families.
Twin Cities
This role provides a dedicated time for adult refugees who cannot attend regular ESL classes to practice their English.

We are seeking volunteers to provide support to caregivers and older adult family members.

Make a lasting difference in the lives of children and youth by providing one-on-one tutoring and mentoring services.

Assist with bagging meals, setting up and/or cleaning-up the dining room, packing meals on wheels bags, dishwashing, and kitchen preparation work and/or clean up.

Transport meals from kitchen/reheating locations to satellite locations. Load/unload bulk food containers or packaged meal trays into/out of vehicle.

Deliver hot, nutritious meals and perform a safety check for older adults who might be unable to leave their homes. Plus, stay social as volunteers personally greet and get to know each older adult they serve.

Get connected by networking and doing volunteer outreach/recruitment within your community to share about LSS Meals’ volunteer opportunities. Activities might include flyer distribution or public speaking.
Statewide
Assist refugees resettling in their new home with pick-up and delivery of furniture donations. This role may also involve setting-up the new living space for newly arrived individuals or families.

We are seeking volunteers to provide companionship to older adults. This program is open to all age groups and receives a monthly stipend.
Locations vary, but will most likely be at the refugee's home and/or in the local community.
Make a lasting difference in the lives of newly arrived refugees by providing friendship and one-on-one mentoring.

We are seeking volunteers to provide companionship to older adults. Tax-free stipends and travel reimbursement are provided to volunteers of this program.

The Voter Outreach Fellow will volunteer and engage in voter outreach, education, and assistance.
