LSS of MN’s Ongoing Commitment to Serving Minnesotans

Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota logoLutheran Social of Minnesota was founded near Red Wing Minnesota 160 years ago. We have grown to serve more than 91,000 individuals and families each year, in all 87 counties. Our services are wide-ranging and include healthy meals for older adults, adoption and foster care, senior companionship, services for youth experiencing housing instability and homelessness, services for veterans, supports for people with disabilities that allow them to live lives of greater independence, Camp Knutson, a camp for campers with identified needs, and more. The services we provide support foundational human needs and are rooted in the Lutheran tradition of serving all people – providing programming and services that inspires hope, changes lives, and builds community.

The work of LSS of Minnesota unites three amazing groups of people. 1) Minnesotans who want to change their own lives and live with greater self-sufficiency and independence. 2) Employees and volunteers who deliver high quality service with great care. 3) Donors and funding partners who care deeply about their neighbor’s well-being and are attracted to LSS’ reputation for innovation and trustworthiness.

Our donors and funding partners know us as a trustworthy organization that stewards all that has been entrusted to us with great care. A variety of local, state, and federal funders contract with nonprofits like Lutheran Social Service to provide localized, high-quality services efficiently and cost effectively. In addition to government grants and contracts, we receive foundation and endowment support, along with contributions from congregations, faith communities and individual donors, to help individuals and families in Minnesota change their own lives and achieve a life of greater self-sufficiency and resilience.

As we look to the future, we will continue to listen deeply to the needs of Minnesotans and innovate new, more effective services to meet them.
