What to Know Before Filing Your 2024 Taxes
Since Tax Day is April 15, 2025, you still have plenty of time, but getting a head start can help you avoid last-minute stress. Here is what you need to know about your PICS tax information.
2024 W-2s
The IRS requires employers to send out W-2 forms by January 31 each year. Our PICS payroll team is currently closing out the books for 2024 and calculating all the necessary information for your W-2 form. We assure you that your W-2 will be sent by January 31, 2025.
If you have opted to receive your W-2 electronically, it will be sent to your email on record with PICS. If not, your W-2 will be mailed to the address we have on record. Please note that due to potential postal delays, we ask that you allow at least two weeks for your mailed W-2 to arrive before requesting a resend. All resend requests will be processed after February 16.
Receive Your W-2 Electronically
If you have not yet opted to receive your W-2 electronically but would like to, there’s still time! The deadline to sign up is January 12.
Look for an email from PICS with the subject line "PICS Consent to Electronic Form W-2” to find information and directions on how to sign up. Simply click the link provided in the email to consent to receive your W-2 electronically.
If you no longer have access to the email, please contact us at [email protected] or call 651.967.5065, and we will send you another email with the link.
If you have already chosen to receive your W-2 electronically but your tax preparer requires a paper copy, you will need to print it yourself. You can check your local library or nearby office supply store for printing services.
Please note: PICS will provide either an electronic W-2 or a mailed copy, but we will not send both.
Change of Address
If you have chosen to receive your W-2 by mail and have recently moved, please make sure to update your mailing address as soon as possible.
Complete a Status Change Form online or contact us at [email protected], and we will send the form to confirm your new address. Once we receive your completed form, we will ensure your W-2 is mailed to the correct location.
2014-7 Difficulty of Care Payments
If the Participant you work for is enrolled in either Consumer Directed Community Supports (CDCS) or Individualized Home Supports (IHS) programs and you reside full-time at the same address as your Participant, some of your income may be eligible for exclusion from Federal and Minnesota taxes. PICS will send a letter to qualified Workers to inform them of their eligibility for this exclusion along with the details on how much of their income through us can be excluded.
If you are eligible for the tax exclusion, it is entirely up to you whether you choose to claim it on your personal tax return. PICS cannot provide tax advice; we recommend you speak to a tax professional to ensure you receive the best guidance for your specific situation.
2014-7 letters are mailed by January 31 to the address on record with PICS. 2014-7 letters are not emailed. Please wait to contact PICS to request a replacement letter until February 16 .

Tax Filing Preparation
Make sure to have all the necessary documents ready before your tax preparation appointment. When scheduling an appointment, remember that IRS deadline for employers [PICS] to send out W-2s and 2014-7 letters is January 31, and it could take two or more weeks to reach you if mailed.
In addition to the many for-profit tax preparation businesses available, you may be eligible to receive tax preparation for free through non-profits like Prepare & Prosper or at a Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) site. Visit these organizations’ websites to see if you qualify.
