Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) services for people with disabilities will be required in the coming years across the nation based on changes required in the 21st Century Cures Act (view pdf outline).

What is EVV?

An electronic verification system is used for clocking in and out while working for a client. You would clock in and out of your shift using an electronic device (like a computer or cellphone) that tracks:

  • Type of Service Performed
  • Client Receiving Services
  • Date of Service
  • Location of Service
  • Individual Providing Service
  • Time Service Begins and Ends

With an EVV system, you would no longer need to use paper timesheets. All timesheets would be approved electronically.

When will this take effect?

Minnesota is planning to roll out EVV service in the beginning of 2019.
