The IRS has made significant changes to the federal W-4 form for 2020.

A new federal W-4 form is required for:

  • Workers hired in 2020
  • Workers who claimed exempt status for 2019
  • Workers who wish to make withholding changes during 2020

Workers who submit a new federal W-4 form must also complete a new state W-4 form.
