I am a proud Latina mom who immigrated to this wonderful country 10 years ago, with no close family. I am a single mother of a son with Bilateral Hearing Difference and Down Syndrome.

Before my little one was born they gave me the news that my son would be born with Down Syndrome, from that moment on I dedicated myself to talking to him, researching and loving him unconditionally even before he was born.When my son was 2 years old I was confirmed to have bilateral deafness, so I decided I would use Hearing Aids.

Every moment since the birth of my son I have dedicated myself to teaching, supporting and encouraging him to achieve what any child his age does.

Every time I see him frustrated because he can't do something, I talk to him and encourage him to try until he succeeds. His favorite activities are playing ball and reading books in Spanish.

My child receives Early Intervention Services at home and I see the results of working together from professionals and support at home. I firmly believe that everything taught to my child is small stepping stone to living a happy and independent life as an adult.

Yo soy una orgullosa mamá Latina que emigró a éste maravilloso país hace 10 años, sin familia cercana. Soy madre soltera de un hijo con Diferencia Auditiva Bilateral y Síndrome de Down.

Antes de que mi pequeño naciera me dieron la noticia de que mi hijo nacería con Síndrome de Down, a partir de ése momento me dedique a hablarle, investigar y amarlo incondicionalmente aún antes de nacer. Cuando mi hijo cumplió 2 años de edad me confirmaron que tenía sordera bilateral, así que decidí que usaría Hearing Aids.

Cada momento a partir del nacimiento de mi hijo me he dedicado a enseñarle, apoyarlo e impulsarlo para lograr lo que cualquier niño de su edad hace.

Cada vez que lo veo frustrado porque no puede hacer algo, hablo con él y lo motivo a intentarlo hasta que lo consigue. Sus actividades favoritas son jugar con la pelota y leer libros en Español.

Mi hijo recibe Servicios de Intervención Temprana en casa y veo los resultados del trabajo en conjunto de los profesionales y el apoyo en casa.Yo creo firmemente que cada cosa enseñada a mi hijo son pequeños escalones para vivir una vida feliz e independiente cuando sea adulto.
