Youth Crisis Shelters
Lutheran Social Service of MN (LSS) provides short-term, emergency shelter and care for children and youth.
LSS youth crisis shelters provides for the physical and emotional needs of youth within the framework of a safe, residential environment.
Who we serve
Youth ages 0-17 referred to the shelter by county social service providers, the court system and area law enforcement.
Youth referred are often experiencing one or more of the following circumstances: family conflict, parental neglect, physical or sexual abuse, running away, delinquency, truancy, school difficulties, chemical abuse, emotional difficulties, past or current out-of-home placement.
We support youth using a strengths-based approach. Recognizing the unique reality of each young person’s situation, the program emphasized responsible behavior, healthy relationships, and making choices to achieve goals.
Through the structure of our daily schedule, residents are taught responsibility in various areas, including social skills and independent living skills.
LSS Youth Crisis Shelters are available in the following Minnesota communities:
Cloquet - Carlton Youth Shelter
Duluth - Bethany Youth Crisis Shelter
