Volunteer Service Enterprise
Each year Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota (LSS) touches the lives of approximately 100,000 people throughout Minnesota. Approximately, 8,000 volunteers generously contribute their time and talent to further our mission through their service.
We are thrilled to share that in February 2016, Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota received Points of Light’s national volunteer certification as a ‘Service Enterprise.’
A Service Enterprise is an organization that fundamentally leverages volunteers and their skills throughout all levels of the organization, strengthening capacity to address community need. Being a part of the Service Enterprise Initiative has allowed LSS to more fully integrate volunteers from all across the state into our organization.
To achieve this certification, a team of LSS employees completed an extensive assessment with over 20 hours of training, consulting, and extensive internal planning to better integrate volunteers in our day-to-day operations. As a result, our employees will now be better equipped to support volunteers, our volunteers will be empowered to build their own skills, and the people we serve will be connected to an even greater network of support,
Moving forward, this certification of excellence will allow our organization to better leverage the time and talent of volunteers to successfully meet our mission through service that inspires hope, changes lives, and builds community.
