Rod Brown
Vice President of Family Services

In September 2008, Rod Brown was named vice president of Family Services for Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota. Brown will have responsibilities for strategic management and planning for key initiatives relative to services with children and families. Those services include housing, crisis shelters and crisis nurseries, adoption and pregnancy counseling, youth services, financial counseling, mental health counseling, Lifeworks Employee Resource, and refugee and employment services.

Brown brings over 20 years of professional experience in business and social service to his new executive position. Most recently, he served as the chief executive officer of Compatible Technology International in St. Paul and before that, the SADAKA Technology Group in Minneapolis. He has also held senior management positions at Oracle, Norstan Consulting Inc. and the Xerox Corporation.

Brown and his wife, Floriane, are co-founders of Nibakure Children’s Village in Rwanda, offering a wide range of care and education to orphaned children. He is also a former board member of Zenon Dance Company, (Minnesota) Institute on Black Chemical Abuse and the Minneapolis YMCA where he served for three years as chairperson.

Brown is a business graduate of Mankato State University (now Minnesota State University) and has earned professional certifications from the Minnesota Council on Quality and the International Institute of Management Consultants.
