Help Families Experiencing a Crisis - Duluth Crisis Nursery Phone Volunteer

Be a part of the village needed to raise a child and do it from the comfort of your own home! Answer calls from parents who need short-term, emergency child care so they have time to address health, housing, employment, relationship and financial issues. Phone volunteers provide crisis support, information on resources and arrange placements for children with licensed providers.

Since volunteers receive calls from parents who are experiencing stress or a crisis, it is important volunteers have a calm and respectful manner. Training on phone protocols, local resources, placement procedures and mandated reporting is provided. Crisis Nursery calls are forwarded to the volunteer’s cell phone during their shifts. Volunteer shifts are normally during non-business hours, scheduled in advance and based on the needs of the volunteer.
