Why Permanency is Important

Foster Care - Training
Monday
Monday, June 10, 2024
5:30 - 7:30 P.M.

Description:

We often focus on the time it takes for children to reach permanency and strive to meet permanency timelines set by both the courts and the federal government. However, it is also important to consider why timely permanency is important to children. This training will explore children’s developmental knowledge and understanding of time. Participants will learn about the impact of time away from caregivers and the importance of permanency for children and families, as well as language to support and increase children’s understanding of their experiences and of time.

Objectives:

  • Understand a child’s sense of time.
  • Understand how time away from primary caregivers can affect a child’s stability.
  • Learn skills to talk with youth about their experiences.
