LSS Financial Counseling Service
is proud to be approved by EOUST, the Executive Office for
United States Trustees, to provide pre-filing bankruptcy
counseling for residents of Minnesota and Wisconsin.**
A counseling session is
generally 1.5 hours in length. In this session, a certified
financial counselor will give you a thorough assessment of
your finances, an understanding of the consequences of
filing bankruptcy, and alternatives that may be available to
you. Services are available in person, by phone or online.
We offer:
- Fully certified financial
counselors
- In-person, telephone or
Internet counseling
- Individualized assessment
of your finances
- Expert advice on the
consequences of bankruptcy
- Clear understanding of
available alternatives to bankruptcy
Fee Policy: There is a fee of $75 per appointment for this service. If you are a married couple, and both are filing, you must both receive counseling. Services are available for free based on a client's ability to pay, under the following circumstances: 1) if your attorney is filing pro bono; or 2) the majority of your income is from disability, and your family income is no more than 200% of Federal Poverty Level. In either case, documentation MUST be provided verifying these criteria in order for the fee to be waived.*
