Areas of Expertise: Changing trends in domestic and international adoption, foster care, pregnancy counseling, post adoption and racial disparities among children in foster care.    

Education and Licensure:
Master’s in Social Work, University of Minnesota, Center for Advance Studies in Child Studies; Bachelor’s in Social Work, Wartburg College

Professional Experience: Alexis Oberdorfer oversees Adoption Services for Children's Home Society and Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota. Alexis is a longtime veteran in child welfare and has worked in this field in nonprofit and public sectors for 25 years. She has received numerous awards from North American Council on Adoptable Children and was a Child Welfare scholar at the Center of Advanced Studies in Child Welfare. She serves on the Board of the National Council on Adoption and the Advisory Board for the Permanency and Adoption Competency Certificate at the University of Minnesota. Alexis is an adopted person and adoptive parent who brings credible personal experience to her work on behalf of children in foster care and vulnerable children throughout the world who are in need of adoption.
