Baxter Candidate Forum to Highlight Key Legislative Priorities

Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota, Minnesota Consortium for Citizens with Disabilities (MN-CCD), MN Coalition for the Homeless, and MN-National Alliance on Mental Illness will hold a Candidate Forum at Arrowwood Lodge in Baxter from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on October 12, 2016.  Rep. Dale Lueck, Quinn Nystrom, Erin Wagner, Rep. Heintzeman and Sen Gazelka have confirmed that they will attend.

The community event is an opportunity for local citizens to meet their candidates for State Representative and State Senator, and learn more about their views on topics such as housing that is affordable, policies impacting individuals with disabilities and other important community issues. The forum will include Senate Districts 9 and 10 and House Districts 10A and 10B. Complimentary refreshments will follow.

“Our state legislators make many important decisions that deeply impact our lives.  Attending a candidate forum is a great chance to hear the candidates’ perspectives on key issues impacting every person in our community,” said Juliana Keen, advocacy manager for Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota. “Actively engaging in the voting process is an important way to carry out LSS’ vision that all people live and work in community with dignity, safety and hope.”

To help with planning, please contact jo@mnccd.org to register in advance or if you would like to request an ASL interpreter.  Walk-ins are also welcome at this event.
