Our Young People Need Us
Every night over 120 young people in the greater Duluth region have no place to call home. Even more are at-risk of becoming homeless.
They are invisible to most of us with problems far beyond their years. The majority of them are not runaways or “homeless by choice.” They come from a wide range of situations.
Without the guidance of a trusted adult to walk with them through critical decisions, the problems they face can manifest themselves in areas of deep personal and community concern including: dropping out of school, unemployment, homelessness, mental health and chemical dependency issues, sex trafficking and even suicide.
In greater Duluth, Lutheran Social Service (LSS) helps over 600 young people every year, making thousands of contacts with them and providing them with the resources they need to launch into a productive, healthy and independent life.

However, LSS services are spread around the city and are not easily accessible to those who need them.

The Vision—The Center for Changing Lives
Our vision is to build one central location in Duluth where at-risk and homeless young people can find support and have access to healthcare and other vital services. Where they can live safely, learn, grow and experience opportunity, possibility and hope.
