  • Training Services

    Overview 

    LSS Training Services provides a wide range of courses that meet training requirements set forth in Minnesota Statute 245D. LSS Training courses focus on person-centered principles, giving participants the tools to help the people they serve live better lives. Throughout each course, participants will develop strategies to be more successful in their roles.  

    Qualified Trainers

    With nearly 200 years of combined experience in all aspects of disabilities services, the LSS training team brings well rounded knowledge and passion to its training courses. All LSS training courses are taught by qualified members of the LSS training team. Meet the Trainers

    Availability

    Courses are available on a regularly scheduled basis in locations across the state. If you do not see a course scheduled for your area, contact us at Training@lssmn.org or fill out our contact form to request a course.  LSS Training Services can also bring our training courses to your agency or organization. Please contact us to discuss your needs.

      This course provides two hours of Function Specific training as outlined in Minnesota Rule 9544.

      Designated Coordinator Basic Training

      16 hours
      Designated Coordinator Basic Training is an interactive course designed to help participants gain the knowledge, skills, and confidence to be successful in their position at your agency.

      Documentation

      2 hours
      Documentation Training is designed to identify the purpose of documentation using person-first language as a foundation.

      Outcome Writing

      3 hours
      This course covers the requirements of 245D as they pertain to outcome writing. Participants will learn how to develop outcomes that are person-centered and desired by the person supported.

      Person-Centered Thinking

      16 hours
      Person-Centered Thinking envisions a world where all people have positive control over the lives they have chosen for themselves. This course will begin a conversation and introduce participants to tools to make this a reality.

      Positive Supports Training

      8 hours
      Positive Supports Training is designed to teach support staff to prevent, de-escalate, and if necessary, intervene when the behavior of an individual poses a threat of harm to themselves and/or others.

      Advanced Positive Supports Training

      16 hours
      Advanced Positive Supports Training builds upon the non-physical and physical interaction skills learned in the Positive Supports Training course. Positive Supports Training is a prerequisite to this course.

      Team building is designed to give Direct Support Professionals the tools to work together and be successful in their positions.
