  • Do I have to be Lutheran to work for LSS of MN?

    LSS employs both Lutheran and non-Lutheran individuals. We pride ourselves on the diversity of our workforce. Likewise, LSS services are available to people of all ages, genders, nationalities, religions, ethnicities and sexual orientations.

    Is a bachelor’s degree required to work at LSS? 

    Our entry-level positions do not require a college degree. These are positions from which staff begin to build their experience base for more advanced human service opportunities within LSS and the human services field.

    Some positions do require a bachelor's degree and for some positions an advanced degree may be required or preferred. Please review the requirements of each position.

    If I don't have a degree, will experience count?

    A degree is not mandatory for all positions. If a position description states a degree is “preferred”, your experience will be considered in place of a degree. Please review the requirements of each position for which you are applying to determine if a degree is required or preferred.

    Does LSS have internship and volunteer opportunities? 

    LSS offers a variety of customized internship and volunteer opportunities leading to diverse career experiences. These range from working with our clients to working at an event or in an office setting.

    I submitted my application online. Should I follow up with a paper copy?

    No. A paper copy (via fax or US mail) is not necessary or advantageous after you have submitted your application online. The online submission process was specifically designed to provide the applicant with quick entry into our active applicant database.

    When will I hear from you?

    Once your application has been successfully submitted, the hiring managers will review your application and assess your skills with the requirements of the position for which you applied. If there is further interest in your candidacy, you will be contacted for an interview.

    Due to the high volume of applications received, we are unable to personally contact candidates who have not been selected for the current open position.

    Can I apply for more than one position?

    There is no limit to the number of positions for which you may apply, however you must apply separately for each position. Please only apply for positions for which you meet the requirements.

    Is there any way I can check to see if my resume was received?

    When you apply for a position via the Web site you should receive a message thanking you for your interest in employment. That message confirms that your online submission was successful.

    What type of pre-employment screening do you perform?

    We perform employment, education and licensure verifications and contact references before hiring employees.

    Once a conditional offer of employment has been extended by the hiring manager, we may also perform pre-employment drug screenings, a criminal background check, a Motor Vehicle Records check and/or any other required background checks that are requirements of the position.

    Can I apply for a position I saw online yesterday, but is no longer posted the job openings page today?

    Applications are accepted only for current open positions. If the position posting has been removed, we are no longer accepting applications for the position.  You may want to check the website regularly for new postings.

    Does my application get considered for future positions?  

    Your application will only be considered for the position for which you submitted the application. Please submit a separate application for each future position for which you would like to be considered.

    Do I have to fill in all the work history information if I have a resume?

    Yes, the application must be completed in its entirety to be considered. Some of the information needed for employment verification is generally not listed on resumes.
